i love to feel the world.

i love to hear its sounds. you know how if you hear a sound for long enough, you get used to it and tune it out and don't really hear it anymore? i wonder what world-sounds we don't hear simply because we've been listening to them since the moment we were born.

when i am in an excited good mood, or hear some really good music, i feel bigger and feel like i can feel the existence of some beautiful buzzing city-light-lined street in europe somewhere...

i love to imagine and try and feel what is happening elsewhere at this moment:

it is almost midnight. right here. right now.

waves are lapping upon moonlit shores along the edge of the continent of australia...

the first pink rays of sunrise are illuminating planes and forests in brazil...

businessmen are driving past the colliseum in Rome and running into offices to begin their workday...

young people are dancing to throbbing music in nightclubs in new york city in the euphoric wee hours of the morning...

and... the clocks of the globe just struck the hour... a million church bells just echoed and rang out at once...

precisely 9 days have passed since millions here along the pacific coast of america, western canada and mexico shouted happy new year and kissed and drank bubbly drinks...

little children in chicago and lima, peru are sleeping soundly in their beds... while those in athens, greece and vienna, austria and cairo, egypt are studying in school...

fishermen in southeast asia are sweating under a bright hot afternoon sun...

...

somebody is walking in the rain

tribes are hunting

sunlight is drying the dew off flowers

someone is witnessing the beauty of a sunset in silent awe

the shuffle of mail and the thud of boxes and the clink of a mailbox shutting can be heard as messages get delivered around the globe

millions of computer mouses are being clicked to receive email... and to open pictures of naked women

babies are being born and crying for the first time

creatures are becoming impregnated as sperm is seeking and penetrating eggs

airplanes and satellites and birds and lost helium balloons are flying around the sky

crickets are chirping

massive clouds of gasses are shifting on jupiter

matter is being sucked into black holes

scientists are devising theories

musicians are forming ideas for songs

punks are moshing

bees are producing honey

snow is melting and creating avalanches

moss is gathering

people are falling in love and saying "i love you"

microscopic cells are forming

atoms are dancing

trees are growing

people are praying to god

people are dying and ending the suffering of old bodies

toys are being played with

fruit is ripening

strings are resonating

buildings are being erected

movies are being filmed

planets are orbiting

people are singing "someone's singing, my lord, kumbaya"

someone's asking someone "what's up" and they are replying "not much"

i am typing into my computer, listening to music in big black headphones, and drinking water while two candles burn in front of me.

and i wonder how i could possibly ever feel tired? how could i ever feel bored?

the world is simultaneously reaching and withdrawing and bouncing like a perpetual motion machine...

Um, wow.
