i wish to describe and record my experiences using more than words.

today could, when reduced to a recounting of my general activities, be considered an "average day" for me: i went to school, went to work, returned to school and did some studio time, went to yoga with a friend, went out to coffee with her, and came home.

but i wish to capture:

the delicious warmth of laying in my bed this morning, having awakened at 10:30 - when i naturally wanted to - without an alarm

the sweetness of the orange i ate

the beautiful sound of isaac stern playing his violin, recorded on the cd i listened to in my car

the smell of turpenoide and linseed oil as i applied tones of oil paints to blank canvases for my project... and the experience of painting in the skylit studio with the other students working on their creations and the "lost highway" soundtrack playing on the stereo in the corner

the feeling of calm as i had a leisurely lunch at a restaurant by myself... notebook on the table beside me to capture thoughts falling like droplets of water onto the page... and making eyes with cute little children nearby

the sensation of entering the electronic music studio from the chilly evening air - how the room felt like a warm, toasty little cell, resplendent with its throbbing, buzzing equipment...

the sounds of sampled bells, cellos, and timpani drums as i morphed and mutated them using envelope filters and LFOs

the sight of my friend's lovely green eyes twinkling as she smiled

the taste of the "african nectar" herb tea we drank at Coffee Soceity

something that thrills me to the core about existing right now is that multimedia affords us the opportunity to describe things as we want to. digital art, film, scanners, electronic music, samplers, recording techniques, flat-screens, etc.... myriads of gadgets and tools at our disposal - in addition to all we've had in the past. at present and as we progress, we are able to reflect and express ourselves more accurately than ever before...

yippeeee!!!
