friday night.

three of us headed over to downtown san francisco to the club after we met up at "tsunami sushi" restaurant (yumscious)...

we fell into dancing, our bodies carried along by the booming rhythms... i felt as though i were drinking the music up as it poured out from the speakers...

i had seen dj icey there before when he opened for fatboy slim almost 1 1/2 years ago... he is fabulous - posessing all the qualities of a dj i admire: seamless mixing skills, creative combinations of tunes, loads of energy, and in touch with the audience...

as much as i thoroughly enjoyed dancing, at times i wished i could have been invisible for i could do without being jostled against the crowd or the leering, groping guys (1015 = meat-market)... when i took my friend's hand and meandered carefully through the club, it felt strangely somehow reminiscent of playing a game of "pick-up-sticks" - that avoidance of contact... i wish i could attend clubs and concerts as a ghost sometimes... happily floating there and absorbing the music and vibe. but i do love the feeling of being in a body and the whole motion of it...

i noticed a bartender who ameena had lusted after when we had gone to fatboy slim and sasha & digweed there, so i wanted to take his picture to send to her as a surprise... thanks to the lights already flashing around us, the fellow didn't notice when i snuck a couple shots:

i knew ameena would be pleased as punch to receive them, and indeed she was... in her return e-mail, she wrote:

"do NOT even tell me that that is the same freaking BARTENDER!!!! oh my LORD! i really cannot CANNOT believe it. you are amazing.... i LOOOOOVE YOUOUOUOUOUOUOUOUOU....."

heheheh...

i also got a shot of a nifty ceiling thingie and a few of the crowd, observing from above that in their motion they appeared rather like bacteria under a microscope. neato...

oh yeah, then on the way back at around 4am, my friend's car broke down. however, fortune smiled on us a bit because there were three of us together, making it easier to handle, and we were within walking distance of both a gas station and the parking lot where my car was. brian and i pushed michelle's car all the way over to the station while she steered, and then i just gave them rides home. pushing the car up the slight grade it was on was challenging, but it was nice to feel my muscles being used for something of practical importance...
