so today was awesome... after Paul's class and lunch this afternoon, I went up higher in the mountains in a little gondola and hiked around... got to breathe more of the fresh air and walk in the snow and on the glaciers of the Alps. it was absolutely spectacular... can't wait until i can post the photos.
i went just me and a music professor here... (paul was taking a nap). i had some incredible conversation with him... what a man. he has degrees in piano performancecomposition, philosophy, and history, has composed for symphonies, toured around the world for teaching and conferences in philosophy and music, written several books, etc. his most recent book was about the future of music... so it was enlightening to hear about his theories and predictions of new performance methods, technologies, and ideas. we talked about philosophy and communication and lots and lots about music.....
i am sooooo inspired right now! i have got a gazillion ideas and more motivation than ever to produce them. more than ever, it actally seems possible that i will.
this is an awesome place. i have seen so much art... and the students, when they present their work, are so incredibly bright and articulate, yet humble and don't seem to take themselves too seriously. for a place that is a pinnacle of the intellectual and academic art world, it is amazingly unpretentious... so refreshing and comfortable.
i am off to a little place called the 'happy bar'... i think it is the only bar in this little village and all the students are congregated there. we all just watched paul do this whole live mix thing as a score to an old, rare black & white french film... fucking rad.
